penang?
yes .. i did went back to penang .. 2 days 1 night stay at grandma's house .. it has been a long time since i last slept there [well .. my father used to work in penang for a duration of 4 years .. and he rented an apartment .. i really miss staying at the apartment ] .. actually at first i was quite reluctant at the thoughts of having to sleep at grandma's house [after being so used to the comfort .. and i can't wear my shorts there] .. but then it was ok though i was struck by boredness [there was no 8TV .. lucky we are back in subang in time for the malaysian idol result .. gotta watch later .. my friend EZRI had no car for the night and I envied my brother since he had found one buddy to hang out with at penang .. boolat:awat laa hang tak balik penang? ] enough nagging .. let us see the wonder of penang

hameediya's restaurant .. when you are in penang .. it is only food that matters [plus going to the beaches .. or hang out at the gurney drive] .. i wish i had my sony cybershot with me .. [perhaps later i will invest into mobile phones with camera] .. what is nice at the restaurant? i do not know the english term for this dish but the malay term is "NASI BERIANI" .. maybe the english term would be "BERIANI RICE"? .. for those people that knows me well would be saying "hey syu! i thought you only consume white rice? you dont eat nasi beriani,or nasi tomato or nasi minyak?" .. well .. there is an exception .. i do eat nasi briani if and only if it is from the mahbub's restaurant [located in bangsar] and from hameediya's restaurant [located in penang] .. choosy am i?

grandma's house .. where? jln kampung dodol off jalan perak .. very easy to find .. visit me there when i am there .. somehow kampung dodol looks different at this time of the year .. why?? the residence of kampung dodol is celebrating merdeka day held by RUKUN TETANGGA KAMPUNG DODOL .. i have been going back to kampung dodol for the past 22 years (every year .. without fail) and this is the first time ever I had the chance to witness merdeka celebration .. there were flags at each house .. karaoke sessions (malaysian is very famous for this) .. basikalthon (an event where the children are required to decorate their bicycles ..) .. kembara basikal merdeka .. oh yeah!! they also had event in which they had to kukur kelapa (i am not very sure of the term .. sighs ..) and lots of other events .. all in the name of MERDEKA ..
sunday morning ..
as usual .. I must have my nasi kandaq .. this is one of the oldest dishes originated from penang .. what is nasi kandaq? it is actually white rice + a mixture of curry + a cut of meat/fish/prawn .. why is it so special? well .. to eat it right .. you must approach the mamak(the person selling nasi kandaq) .. and ask for a plate and never forget to say "kuah taruk semua" .. then you will get the best nasi kandaq .. there is a place in penang which is quite famous for nasi kandaq which is the kampung melayu's nasi kandaq .. beware .. never go there after 8.30 am .. you will end up in a very long que!! there is other few places more such as nasi kandar deen at jelutong , line clear, kayu nasikandar, subaidah, pelita etc .. try it all !! there is another speciality from penang called "roti benggali" what is that? ermm .. it is bread actually .. my father would really shop for this bread every time we are back in penang .. where to get it? when you see an old man (usually called as mamak roti) on motorcycle passing by and then ask them for a loaf of that bread and remember to buy kaya (coconut+egg+sugar) spread .. taste them !! superb!! told you .. back in penang it would only be food galore .. there goes months of training in gym and the diets ..
after second around of nasi kandaq .. we headed back to subang jaya and just in time for me to watch malaysian idol's result show ..
well the show is about to start ..
