getting to know nasi lemak :

Simply rice cooked in coconut milk (knotted pandanus leaves and even ginger or a stalk of lemon grass may be tossed into the pot to add fragrance), imparting a creamy texture to the grains, nasi lemak is available on almost every street corner and in almost every local-themed restaurant, served with everything from chicken to beef to cuttlefish.

this dish should be made known as the national dish of nasi lemak . no joke here . i am sure every and each souls in malaysia had eaten nasi lemak . most races in malaysia could prepare nasi lemak . so why not? i myself is an avid fan of nasi lemak and two of my favourite place is nasi lemak makyah(SS14,PJ) and nasi lemak tanglin(jln tanglin,next to MGS).



why this sudden entry about nasi lemak?
because it has been a favourite dish of mine and to spread the knowledge about nasi lemak . [yelah takkan tahu makan je kot] and to say thank you to seri kerana belanja makan nasi lemak this morning. :D

nasi lemak would not be nasi lemak if it is not accompany by these essentials fried ikan bilis (anchovies),fried peanuts,cucumber slices,wedges of hardboiled egg (variations: fried eggs, or slices of omelette) and Sambal (a kind of cooked chili paste, plain with onions or with ikan bilis too).
there is also other side dishes that has been known to be served with nasi lemak. the dishes are chicken curry or rendang,beef curry or rendang,cuttlefish sambal, fried chicken,fried cow lung (paru),begedil (potato cutlets sometimes mixed with minced meat)and cockles in sambal.
there is mainly two way to buy nasi lemak which is nasi lemak bungkus or nasi lemak order. nasi lemak bungkus is those pre-packed serving of nasi lemak topped with sambal,sprinkled with fried peanuts and ikan bilis, sliced cucumber and a wedge of hardboiled egg. normally priced between 70 cents up to rm1.[sighs .. i miss nasi lemak bungkus at canai&such ss15,subang]. while nasi lemak order is where u could choose the dishes and the price depends on the type of dishes that you choose.

and seriously .. pleaslah angkat darjat nasi lemak as the national dish
omigod .. just by writing 'bout nasi lemak .. i am suddenly so hungry ..
